Woodland Conservation

31st January 2025

Jack Wood

Rain, rain go away!

Well, it didn’t completely go but, still, 19 volunteers turned up today and worked their socks off in the drizzle. Habitat improvement above the Lower Path in Jack Wood continues, with large stands of holly removed, and numerous holly saplings too. The dead hedge grew in response and the area is much lighter.

Another long section of hedge has been completed! It’s all hands to the deck to ensure all holly stems are inserted into the hedge before we finish. Great work, everyone!

One of the holly poles - it’s straight and not too big a diameter - perfect for a post in our dead hedging.
